Straw is an energy source of farm origin and is normally obtained as a by-product from cereal and oilseed crop cultivation. The connection between the global requirement of greenhouse gas reduction and the production of straw as „waste product“ (in a situation of excessive nutrients in the field) caused NESTRO to develop and efficient combustion technology for renewable raw materials.
Even before LIGNA 2009, NESTRO and HOMAG in cooperation with the Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences determined and documented the air volume requirements and resistance of HOMAG edge gluing systems in a series of tests.
Based on these measurements and the operating requirements, NESTRO developed an energy-optimised extraction solution for edge processing that was presented at LIGNA in comparison to conventional solutions.
